Aims & Scope
Annals of Radiology is a peer-reviewed, open access radiology journal published by Directive Publications, dedicated to advancing diagnostic and interventional imaging across clinical and research practice. The journal publishes original research, reviews, technical notes, and richly illustrated case reports spanning computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasonography, radiography, and image-guided intervention, serving radiologists, interventional radiologists, radiographers, residents, and translational imaging scientists worldwide.
Core topics include vascular and interventional radiology (embolization, transarterial chemoembolization and radioembolization, stent-graft repair, and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunting), oncologic and hepatobiliary imaging such as hepatocellular carcinoma classification and locoregional therapy, radiofrequency ablation, musculoskeletal and emergency imaging, contrast media and contrast-agent science, and radiation dose optimization. We particularly welcome work that improves diagnostic accuracy, refines minimally invasive technique, and reduces imaging-related risk.
Every submission undergoes rigorous double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, with authors retaining copyright, and each receives a permanent Crossref DOI. Content is discoverable through Google Scholar and OpenAlex and is exposed via an OAI-PMH endpoint for harvesting, ensuring lasting citability and global reach.
The journal follows COPE ethical principles. An article-processing charge applies on acceptance, with waivers and discounts available to support authors from all regions and career stages.

Frequently Asked Questions
What topics does Annals of Radiology cover?
Annals of Radiology covers diagnostic and interventional radiology, including computed tomography, MRI, ultrasonography, and radiography, as well as vascular and interventional procedures such as embolization, transarterial chemoembolization and radioembolization, stent-graft repair, and ablation. It also publishes oncologic, hepatobiliary, musculoskeletal, and emergency imaging research, contrast media science, and radiation dose and imaging-safety studies.
Does Annals of Radiology publish radiology case reports?
Yes. Annals of Radiology actively welcomes well-illustrated case reports that feature diagnostic imaging or image-guided intervention, including atypical presentations, diagnostic pitfalls, and novel techniques. Case reports are peer reviewed, published open access under CC-BY 4.0, and assigned a permanent Crossref DOI for full citability.
How do I submit a manuscript to Annals of Radiology?
Authors submit through the journal's submission page following the author guidelines for formatting, figures, and ethics declarations. Annals of Radiology accepts original research, reviews, technical notes, and case reports in diagnostic and interventional radiology, and every submission enters double-blind peer review.
Is Annals of Radiology open access, and who retains copyright?
Annals of Radiology is fully open access. Every published article is freely available to read, download, and share under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, and authors retain copyright of their work. This maximizes the reach and citation potential of imaging research.
What is the peer review process at Annals of Radiology?
Annals of Radiology uses double-blind peer review, in which author and reviewer identities are concealed from one another to support impartial evaluation. The journal follows COPE ethical principles for handling submissions, conflicts of interest, corrections, and retractions.
Are there article-processing charges or waivers at Annals of Radiology?
An article-processing charge applies only on acceptance, which funds open-access publication, DOI registration, and long-term preservation. Waivers and discounts are available to support authors facing financial constraints; contact the editorial office for current charges and eligibility.
How are articles in Annals of Radiology made discoverable and citable?
Each accepted article receives a permanent Crossref DOI and is indexed for discovery through Google Scholar and OpenAlex, with metadata exposed via an OAI-PMH endpoint for harvesting. The journal is preparing further indexing applications, and DOIs ensure articles remain permanently citable and linkable.
Who should read and publish in Annals of Radiology?
Annals of Radiology is intended for diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiographers and imaging technologists, radiology residents and fellows, and translational imaging researchers. Clinicians and scientists working on image-guided therapy, oncologic imaging, emergency and musculoskeletal radiology, and imaging safety will find it a relevant venue to read and publish.
