Aims & Scope

The Journal of Digestive & Liver Diseases (JDLD) is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published by Directive Publications, dedicated to advancing gastroenterology and hepatology. It publishes original research, reviews, and case reports spanning the full spectrum of digestive and liver diseases, from the esophagus, stomach, and intestine to the liver, pancreas, and biliary tract.

Core topics include inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal bleeding, and digestive endoscopy, alongside hepatology themes such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD/MASLD), viral hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and fibrosis, portal hypertension, and hepatocellular carcinoma. The journal also welcomes work on gastrointestinal oncology, pancreatobiliary disorders, and the gut microbiome.

We value clinical, translational, and basic-science contributions, including epidemiological studies, randomized trials, diagnostic and biomarker research, and systematic reviews relevant to gastroenterologists, hepatologists, endoscopists, surgeons, and researchers worldwide.

Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review. Accepted articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) licence, with authors retaining copyright, and each receives a permanent Crossref DOI ensuring discoverability through OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and our OAI-PMH endpoint. The journal follows COPE ethical principles.
